Associated Press Fears McCain Will Win Electoral College
The left leaning Associated Press just released an article warning that McCain may win the White House in the same way President George W. Bush won in 2000 -- losing the popular vote, while winning the electoral college vote: "It's a nightmare scenario for Democrats — their nominee Barack Obama winning the popular vote while Republican John McCain ekes out an Electoral College victory. . . . last-minute state polls show the GOP nominee closing the gap in key states — Republican turf of Virginia, Florida and Ohio among them, and Democratic-leaning Pennsylvania, too.If the tightening polls are correct and undecided voters in those states break McCain's way . . . that could make for a repeat of the 2000 heartbreaker for Democrats that gave Republicans the White House. "

Joe Perry Confesses: I'm For McCain!

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry says national security and economic woes have prompted him to split from the rest of the entertainment world and throw his support behind John McCain. “We pretty much stay out of it, but seeing so many people come out for Obama, I just felt like ‘What the hell, I might as well raise my hand for this side,” Perry said from his Duxbury home. "I’ve been a hardcore Republican my whole life,” he told the Boston Herald. “My mother and father drilled into me from the very start that if you work hard and be positive, you’ll get what you’re working for. I guess I’m living proof of that . . . I'm an optimist. It ain’t over till its over,” he said. “I think that he’s got a chance.”
Mooners Break Glass With Their Butts
In Bellingham, Washington, a man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and another suffered broken bones to his face after both were struck with a baseball bat on a trail that parallels Squalicum Parkway early Saturday morning. The two victims and another man had left the Village Inn Pub & Eatery around 2 a.m., and walked into the nearby Access Comics, 3096 Northwest Ave., said Lt. Steve Felmley of the Bellingham Police Department. The store's owner asked the three men to leave because they appeared to be intoxicated and were disorderly. After leaving the store, all three allegedly broke the store's front window by pressing their bare buttocks against it, mooning the owner and two customers inside. The two customers chased the mooners and beat them with a baseball bat.
Mouse Head Found in Frozen Vegetables

An Auckland woman wants answers after finding what looks to be a shrunken mouse's head in a packet of fozen food. Jacquie Lewis is a competitive body builder and eats a lot of frozen vegetables. But what she found inside a packet of Watties "choice cut" frozen beans has her thinking of sticking to muesli bars. "I thought it was a little husk or something so I took it out of the microwave and pulled it out, it had eyes looking back at me, which was incredibly nauseating, I thought if this is your head where exactly is the rest of you?," says Lewis. The unidentified frozen object is about one centimetre wide and Lewis says if she hadn't looked closely she could have eaten it.
Cook Wipes Butt With Burger; Gargles With Lettuce
Two cooks at a Burnet, Texas restaurant were arrested Monday for tainting a hamburger prepared for the Burnet Police Department chief. According to his arrest affidavit, Jaime Perez, 23, told a friend he wiped himself (the rectal area) with a hamburger bun he was serving Police Chief Paul Nelson at a restaurant called Andy's Landing. Perez also said he put the veggies in his mouth before placing them on the burger and proceeding to spit and blow his nose on it.
The citizen told Chief Nelson who filed a complaint with the Burnet County's Sheriff's Office. The Chief recalled seeing Perez along with another cook, James Ledesma, standing behind the counter watching him eat his food that day.
"Jaime is our best cook," said Andy's Landing General Manager Tiffany Tappe. "It's the last thing we ever expected."

Dead Mouse Found in Block of Cheese

While slicing some cheese for his children, a Canadian father uncovered a dead mouse in the middle of the block. "This would have been the very last thing I would have expected to find… in a block of cheese, which I buy every time I do groceries," Deborah Atkinson of Miscouche, just west of Summerside, said of her husband's discovery. Atkinson said her family loved Maple Dale's Caribbean brand cheese from Ontario, which has hot peppers and sun-dried tomatoes in it. A couple of weeks ago, while her husband was cutting slices from the last block he bought in Summerside, he gave his four-year-old daughter a couple of pieces to munch on. He made the unpleasant discovery a few cuts later. "Obviously he cuts it in little squares because our children are three and four," said Atkinson.
"He kind of got to just about the middle and as he cut, he noticed what looked like fur." He immediately took the cheese, a few pieces already gone, from the children. They hadn't eaten any of the cheese from near the mouse, and they didn't get sick.

Man Jailed For Getting Extra Helping of Food at Buffet

A Texas man was jailed last week after refusing to pay for a second buffet meal after his girlfriend "ate a couple bites from his plate." The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday that Dan Linscomb, 40, of Texas City, Texas, was arrested Oct. 21 after refusing to pay for the second $7 meal at an Iron Skillet restaurant in northwest Atlanta. According to a police report, Linscomb said "there were no signs in the restaurant that said someone could not have some food off your plate," the paper said. Linscomb was jailed on a charge of theft of services, but was released two days later after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, the paper said.
Even the Woman Who Defiled the Lincoln Bedroom Defends GOP

At a recent Hollywood party, in a room full of television industry executives, no one seemed inclined to defend MSNBC for what some were calling its lopsidedly liberal coverage of the presidential election. The cable news channel is "completely out of control," said writer-producer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, a self-proclaimed liberal Democrat. She added that she would prefer a lunch date with right-leaning Fox News star Sean Hannity over left-leaning MSNBC star Keith Olbermann.
Bloodworth-Thomason and others seemed especially critical of the way MSNBC — and other media — has attacked Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin while demeaning her supporters.
"We should stop the demonizing," she said, adding that Democrats have been worse than Republicans as far as personal attacks on candidates are concerned. "It diminishes us," she said of her fellow Democrats.
Bloodworth-Thomason even suggested a defense of Palin and her supporters should be written into TV programing, just as she went out of her way to portray Southern women as smart in her hit TV show "Designing Women."
